So far as the
organization is concerned, the Cluj-Napoca City Hall's efforts of having
provided the chairs in the Square is worth mentioning, at the side of
the HBO, who offered blankets for the chilly screening nights. Another
aspect which brings TIFF high up to the civilized festivals of the world
is the setting up of a
kindergarten (GradiTIFF), a partnership with
the local Happy Kids Kindergarten. The parents may leave their children
there to play and then enjoy a film. The central square also hosts an
information office (Infopoint TIFF), where promotional materials about
the festival are on sale.
Mihai Chirilov, the artistic director of the festival,
stressed upon the record number of the films enlisted in the TIFF2010
program, from 47 countries, as well as on the efforts of the staff which
numbers 135 people without the volunteers. Other records of the festival:
more than 400 Romanian and foreign guests, as well as the 220 reporters.
Not to mention the 125 teenagers from 42 places in Romania who enrolled
in the 5th edition of the Lets' Go Digital! Workshop.
Worth mentioning are also the media partnerships of
the TIFF2010. Apart from the already traditional partnership with the
TV5, two new ones were created this year, using the accordingly political
propensities. The partnership with the Euronews, a channel which will
be present at the festival with two teams, will feature the contents
of the festival in two of their programs. Another TV channel which showed
a great interest in the festival is the B1TV, which will present every
evening some of its aspects. In order to meet the ever increasing interest
for the festival, 6 of the films which are enlisted will be broadcast
online free for 300 viewers.
The locals were spoiled in this TIFF not only
through its very existence, but also through the intense promotion of
the local values. Whether it is about the film competition which was
dedicated to the inhabitants of Cluj County, or the election of a local
student of the Design and Fine Arts University to make the design of
the promotionals of the Festival, or the UBB student Cristian Pascariu
whose short film which had been realized locally, Cluj is undoubtedly
going to be heard of in the world in connection with the TIFF, as the
festival is approaching an association with the organizers of the Oscar
Festival!
